#dblogweek Day Four: Mantras and More

It's day four and I'm still blogging! Are you chocked and confused? Where on earth have I gotten all of this time to write blog posts *gasp* consistently? Maybe it's her? Maybe it's Maybelline? Well actually, I've written all of these blog posts so far on one Saturday, so I seem consistent, but I'm really just scheduling a bunch of posts all written on one day. So now you know my secret. Oops.

The Prompt:
Yesterday we opened up about how diabetes can bring us down. Today let’s share what gets us through a hard day. Or more specifically, a hard diabetes day. Is there something positive you tell yourself? Are there mantras that you fall back on to get you through? Is there something specific you do when your mood needs a boost? Maybe we've done that and we can help others do it too?
Well I guess I kind of talked about this in yesterday's post. Well, whatever. I guess I'll just talk some more about stuff I do to to get through my bad days. I'm good at going on and on and on about stuff, so this shouldn't be too difficult.

Ah yes, I know exactly how the bad days start. I wake up angrily and forget to test my blood. I don't eat until lunch. I forget to cover lunch. I get home and I'm still high. I eat more food and cover it, but don't test my blood. I don't want to know what on earth my blood sugar is. I eventually test my blood sugar and promise to never do this again. I still do it again.

Honestly, the day gets better as soon as I realize that I actually need to test and cover my blood sugar. The best way for me to get through these days is to just get through them and not dwell on them too much. My mantra for these days is: it is what it is

Via // Sadly, the website this came from no longer exists.
Those simple five words tell it how it is. I give myself tough love in this way. There's really no use in lamenting about what happened the day before. I can just learn from it. On the occasion that tough love just makes it worse, I make a habit of watching Netflix, texting my friends, eating vegan ice cream, drinking hot chocolate, watching k-pop music videos on YouTube, and laying in my bed while wrapping a very soft fleece blanket around myself. I basically become a human burrito stuffed with delicious chocolaty foods and drinks that watched internet videos for hours on end. It is very satisfying and I'm sure would make a hilarious picture for someone to blackmail me with later.

Moral of the Story: So I'm either passive about bad days or become a delicious Mexican food item in human form. That's interesting...
